Transport Planning and the Environment MSc

This MSc develops a strong understanding of the environmental impacts of transport and how to design sustainable, evidence-based solutions. Core modules cover environmental science, transport modelling, data analysis, and air quality policy, equipping you with the skills to evaluate emissions, public health impacts, and policy effectiveness. You’ll also explore how transport systems interact with wider environmental and social challenges.

A key feature is the Transport Integrated Project, where you’ll work in multidisciplinary teams on real-world problems set by organisations such as local authorities. You’ll also complete a 60-credit dissertation, allowing you to specialise in a chosen topic and apply advanced research and analytical skills, often in collaboration with industry.

The course offers a wide range of optional modules, enabling specialisation in areas such as sustainable planning, logistics, transport data science, and policy evaluation. Teaching combines lectures, workshops, fieldwork, and independent study, supported by expert academics and industry professionals.
