The Conservation with Forestry BSc (Hons) at Bangor University prepares you to tackle some of the greatest environmental challenges of our time, including climate change, loss of biodiversity, and deforestation. The degree focuses on the principles of biological conservation, forest ecology and forest ecosystem function, and the management of forests to meet conservation objectives.
As the longest-standing Forestry department in the UK, Bangor University is one of only three universities across the country training foresters to degree level. The program places particular emphasis on developing your practical, interpersonal, professional, technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills to prepare you for wherever your career takes you.
There are opportunities to study abroad in the second year and to spend up to 12 months working for a conservation or forestry organisation through an optional placement year. The university owns 82 hectares of woodland, many of them semi-natural, which are used for teaching, student projects, and research, alongside week-long field courses in every year of the degree.
