Coordination and Management of Educational Services
Gorizia Campus, Italy
From an academic perspective, it is the natural continuation of the three-year degree programs in the L-19 program (Educational and Training Sciences), which qualify professional educators in socio-pedagogy and early childhood services. While the latter roles primarily involve operational tasks, that is, they implement educational interventions, the pedagogue, on the other hand, is primarily an expert in management and coordination. This complex and multifaceted role is capable of understanding and interpreting the complexities of educational work, local communities, and social emergencies, and can develop intervention proposals through services. Their work focuses on the individual, understood holistically and at different stages of life, within the broader framework of the welfare system and human services.
The program has no restricted admissions, but requires assessment of students' personal preparation through an initial interview to assess their academic qualifications, the presence of specific scientific-disciplinary areas in their studies, their professional experience, and their English language proficiency.
The program is structured into a single curriculum, where teaching is organized into subject-specific and laboratory-based courses, allowing for a blend of theory and practical-operational skills. A key element of the master's program is the internship, which serves as a crucial tool for bridging theory and practice. Within the program's architecture, it is considered the ideal space for fostering a reflective attitude and developing one's professional identity. Since the LM-50 graduate requires a high-level professional profile with high levels of planning, coordination, and reporting expertise, the internship as a whole aims to achieve broad-based objectives, specifically related to experimentation with design, research, monitoring, territorial mapping, and networking with other local agencies and services. For these reasons, it entails a total of 300 hours of work, equivalent to 12 credits (ECTS), and provides students with the opportunity to connect the experience with their final thesis.
Finally, internationalization opportunities are ensured through the implementation of exchanges already underway within the three-year degree program in Educational Sciences. International mobility programs are already active with the universities of Darmstadt (Germany), Oviedo, Murcia, Bilbao and Granada (Spain), and Coimbra (Portugal). Other international educational activities are also provided through initiatives promoted within the Erasmus+ KA2 projects managed by the department's pedagogists.
