Curriculum & Modules
The M.Sc. Cardiovascular Science curriculum comprises 120 ECTS credits distributed across four theoretical modules, three practical laboratory rotations, a seminar module, a good scientific practice module, elective courses, and a Master's thesis. The program follows a consecutive structure building from foundational cardiovascular knowledge to advanced research topics over four semesters.
M.CVS.101: Cardiovascular Basics I
Semester 1Covers cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, embryology, and endocrinology through lectures, seminars, and practical courses. Provides the foundational understanding of the cardiovascular system at the organ level.
M.CVS.102: Cardiovascular Basics II
Semester 1Focuses on cell biology, biophysics, biochemistry, signal transduction, and genetics relevant to the cardiovascular system. Builds molecular-level knowledge complementing the organ-level foundations from Basics I.
M.CVS.201: Cardiovascular Diseases and Therapies
Semester 2Explores cardiovascular diseases, pharmacology, epigenetics, and therapeutic approaches. Bridges basic science with clinical understanding of cardiovascular pathologies and their treatment.
M.CVS.301: Cardiovascular Research in Academia and Industry
Semester 3Covers clinical trials, state-of-the-art research methods, and modern topics in cardiovascular science. Prepares students for independent research careers in both academic and industrial settings.
Laboratory Rotations I, II & III (M.CVS.001–003)
Semesters 1–3Three eight-week lab rotations in cardiovascular research groups at the Göttingen Campus or at national and international research institutions. Students freely choose their laboratory and research topic based on personal interest.
