Environmental and territorial safety engineering

The first-year curriculum offers a broad range of core subjects in mathematics, computer science, physics, and chemistry, which provide the methodological and operational tools for interpreting and describing chemical-physical and environmental phenomena in the complexity of their mutual interactions. The second year includes courses characterizing Civil and Environmental Engineering, such as those focused on the study of hydraulics, structural science, and environmental physics, as well as courses designed to ensure the necessary interdisciplinary training, through in-depth studies of environmental and safety law and environmental economics and appraisal. The third year combines more traditional courses, such as geotechnics and hydrology, with highly topical subjects such as environmental health engineering and the principles of industrial and environmental safety. The third year also focuses on two different thematic areas, divided into two distinct curricula ("Land Protection" and "Environmental Sustainability"). The first provides an in-depth study of hydraulics, land-use planning, emergency management, land and building protection, and remote sensing. The second explores aspects of environmental sustainability technologies, industrial processes, and low-carbon techniques, as well as ecological risk mitigation. The program is complemented by elective courses, laboratory activities, and a final exam. In lieu of elective courses, students may choose to complete an internship at universities, public or private institutions, companies, and industries, to facilitate entry into the workforce.
