The BA (Hons) in Sports Development and Performance at TUS has been designed for people with a passion for sport who would like to work in an exciting, dynamic, and global industry. Based at the Moylish campus in Limerick City, this four-year honours degree equips you with the coaching, leadership, and sports development skills needed to thrive in a range of professional sporting roles.
Throughout the program, you will develop your leadership skills and gain an understanding of sports development, resistance training and conditioning, exercise and health, talent identification and development, fitness testing, nutrition, psychology, sports injuries, and how to use the latest coaching technologies. The curriculum bridges the gap between theory and practice, ensuring you gain practical skills that set you apart in the competitive sports industry.

Curriculum & Modules
The BA (Hons) Sports Development and Performance curriculum is structured across four years, progressing from foundational knowledge in anatomy and coaching to advanced modules in sports psychology, performance analysis, and professional placement. The program combines core theoretical modules with extensive practical coaching sessions and real-world industry experience.
Introduces the fundamental concepts of human anatomy and the anatomical structures involved in human movement, providing an understanding of their mechanics in the production of functional and sporting activities.
Focuses on the coaching process including planning, delivering, and reviewing coaching sessions, with particular attention to coaching children, child welfare and protection, and the development of a refined coaching philosophy.
Enables students to develop an understanding of the underlying principles of sport psychology and gain awareness of the importance of sport psychology in overall performance in sport.
Provides theoretical knowledge and practical skills to assist in the design and delivery of safe, basic, and appropriate training programmes, covering physiological principles underlying physical conditioning.
Provides introductory level weight training theory and practical application, forming the foundation for planning and delivery of strength programmes for the general population and athletes.
