Bachelor of Chemistry
Sorbonne Université, France
The architecture of the Chemistry degree is based on the major-minor system and allows the association of the chemistry major with a choice of:
- the complementary chemistry course as part of the monodisciplinary chemistry course at 60 ECTS per year.
- a minor in another scientific discipline or on a transdisciplinary theme within the framework of a classic bi-disciplinary course at 60 ECTS per year.
- the apprenticeship minor “Analytical Chemistry and Data Analysis”, a single-discipline L2+L3 course at 60 ECTS/year leading to obtaining a Chemistry degree.
- the equivalent of a major in another scientific discipline as part of a double degree (or intensive bi-disciplinary course) at 72 ECTS per year.
Students can also choose a traditional dual-discipline program with chemistry as their minor discipline . They earn a bachelor's degree in their major discipline.
The classic single- and dual-discipline courses (60 ECTS/year) with a chemistry major lead to the validation of the Sorbonne University Chemistry degree. This diploma gives the opportunity to continue on to a Master's degree in Chemistry. In particular, after selection, it gives access to all the specializations of the Sorbonne University Chemistry Master's degree.
Double degrees or intensive bi-disciplinary courses (72 ECTS/year) can, under certain conditions, lead to obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry and that of the associated discipline, thus opening up the possibility of accessing master's degrees in both disciplines after selection.
All the courses with a chemistry major offered by the Chemistry Degree are designed to provide the fundamental bases in the main disciplines of chemistry . They all allow for further study in chemistry . The L2 year aims to acquire fundamental knowledge of chemistry at both the theoretical and experimental levels. The L3 is a year of deepening this knowledge and allows for its reinvestment during an internship or project work.
