Discover Lancaster University: A Leading Collegiate Research University

Lancaster University is a collegiate public research university established in 1964 by Royal Charter, making it one of the new wave of universities founded in the 1960s. Situated on a 578-acre parkland campus at Bailrigg in north-west England, the university is just three miles from the historic city of Lancaster and lies between the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales National Parks.

Lancaster is distinctive for its collegiate system, one of only a handful of UK universities to operate this way. The university received a Gold rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework (2023) and 91% of its research was rated world-leading or internationally excellent in REF 2021.

Lancaster is a member of the N8 Research Partnership, an elite collaboration among the top research-intensive universities in Northern England. The university has a global alumni network spanning over 150 countries and is consistently ranked in the top 10 in the UK by the Complete University Guide. Its Management School holds the prestigious triple accreditation from AACSB, EQUIS, and AMBA.
