The five-year MEng Hons Chemical Engineering with Placement Year degree commences with a general engineering first year, encompassing core themes such as design, materials, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and mathematics.Specialisation in chemical engineering is undertaken from Year 2, facilitating the development of core engineering skills. Teamwork, creativity, and technical proficiency are applied within project work to design solutions for real-world problems. These activities are conducted in state-of-the-art facilities across two engineering buildings.A primary component of Year 3 involves the completion of a year-long whole plant design project. Conducted as a group-based exercise, this project entails conceptual design and the evaluation of economic, safety, legislative, and ethical assessment standards.
