Curriculum and Modules
The Earth Sciences BSc follows St Andrews' flexible modular degree system. In your first two years (sub-honours), you take required Earth Sciences modules alongside at least one other subject. 20 creditsFocuses on low-temperature processes in Earth's outer envelopes, including oceans, atmosphere, and the Critical Zone, exploring their impact on climate and the environment with a focus on fieldwork and statistical skills.
Dynamic Earth: Magma, Minerals and Metamorphism
20 creditsFocuses on the geology and geochemistry of the solid Earth and processes in Earth's interior, covering igneous and metamorphic petrology and mineralogy.
Research Dissertation
40 creditsAn individual research project on an area of Earth Sciences allowing you to pursue a topic of personal interest in depth. You present your project both orally and in dissertation form.
