Occupational Therapy
Highfield Campus, United Kingdom
The BSc Occupational Therapy program provides the expertise required to treat individuals facing psychological, physical, or social disabilities. Emphasis is placed on cultivating effective collaboration with patients, families, and carers, as well as working alongside other healthcare professionals. The course aims to establish a strong professional identity and a clear understanding of the occupational therapist's contribution to multi-disciplinary teams.
This field integrates diverse disciplines such as human anatomy, physiology, psychology, sociology, and pathology, alongside studies in learning disabilities and mental health. The curriculum examines how health conditions and significant life events influence an individual's sense of self, relationships, and daily occupations.
Educational methods include creative, experiential, and reflective learning, underpinned by research from internationally recognized experts. Students have access to specialized facilities, including a multisensory environment, a biomechanics laboratory, and an adapted flat. Furthermore, the degree requires the completion of 1,000 hours of practice placements across community settings, social care, and hospitals. Upon graduation, eligibility is granted to register as an occupational therapist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
