MA Creative Writing
Roehampton Campus, United Kingdom
Assessment combines creative submissions with reflective writing, requiring students to produce a portfolio of original work accompanied by critical reflections and a reading log; the Creative Contexts module is evaluated through a hybrid creative‑critical essay and a reading log, while Genre Fiction, Fiction: Short Stories, Dark and Transgressive Writing, Fiction: Novel and the Creative Project each use portfolios and critical reflections as assessment vehicles. Formative activities include weekly lectures, seminar workshops where drafts are shared and discussed, guided writing exercises, online forum participation, and peer feedback, enabling continual skill development and scholarly engagement throughout the programme. The curriculum also invites critical reflection on contemporary issues such as the role of artificial intelligence in creative practice, fostering innovation, curiosity and independent enquiry while building technical mastery, artistic maturity and professional preparation for future literary careers.
