Graduates will possess a broad foundation of knowledge in various fields: literary-philological, linguistic and glottodidactic, historical-geographical, archaeological, and historical-artistic. Graduates will acquire:
- knowledge and understanding of the Italian language and literature; critical skills in reading and interpreting ancient, modern, and contemporary texts; knowledge of synchronic and diachronic linguistics, and teaching processes and techniques related to the promotion of the Italian language and culture worldwide (Literary-Philological and Linguistic Area);
- adequate knowledge of historical events, religious phenomena, and methods of source analysis; adequate knowledge of physical, human, and urban geography (Historical-Geographical Area);
- adequate understanding of settlement phenomena and artistic expressions of the ancient and medieval world (Archaeological-Artistic Area).
The aforementioned knowledge and understanding will be achieved by students through attendance at lectures, which will be supplemented by seminars, conferences, and specific in-depth studies. The quality of learning will be assessed, for individual subjects, through exams and, where appropriate, ongoing assessments. Overall preparation will be further assessed at the end of the course of study through the preparation of the final paper.
Graduates will be able to:
- master spoken and written communication;
- interpret ancient, modern, and contemporary texts and documents, with independent critical, philological, and linguistic analysis;
- present and comment on a literary text, including from a multicultural educational perspective;
- understand geographical, historical, and historical-religious issues, including with the aid of documentary sources;
- understand the artistic expressions of ancient and modern civilizations, analyzing their relationship with their historical, cultural, and territorial context;
- convey the knowledge acquired through educational initiatives aimed at disseminating and enhancing cultural heritage.
The aforementioned ability to apply knowledge and understanding, acquired through attendance at lectures, seminars, conferences, and specific in-depth studies, will be assessed through exams, any ongoing assessments, and the final dissertation.
The graduate:
- can move freely and independently through problems and topics related to his or her field of study;
- possesses good skills in the logical organization and orderly presentation of complex data and documentary information;
- approaches and interprets, with full independent judgment, literary, philological, linguistic, historical, historical-religious, geographical, artistic-archaeological phenomena;
- appropriately uses methods for analyzing documents from ancient, modern, and contemporary civilizations, from a synchronic and diachronic perspective;
- possesses an aptitude for teamwork.
Independent judgment is developed during classroom teaching (within which students have adequate space for discussion) and in activities such as seminars, workshops, and internships. The acquisition of independent judgment is assessed during exams and during the preparation of the final paper.
Graduates:
- possess specific linguistic skills to present the results of their studies in the humanities and the methodologies they have learned;
- begin to work in groups and organize information on topics related to their area of study in the fields of linguistics, philology and literature, archaeology and art history, geography, and religious history;
- are able to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally, in specialized and non-specialized contexts within their area of study.
Communication skills are developed through seminars and cultural debates organized by the Degree Program and are assessed during exams for individual disciplines and the preparation and presentation of the dissertation.
