History and International Relations

In the latest National Student Survey, 98% of our students said teaching staff are good at explaining things (National Student Survey 2025, 98% of responders from the Department of History). 100% of our research is of international standing (REF 2021, combining 4*, 3* and 2* submissions – History).  The Department of Politics and International Relations offers expertise across applied political theory, comparative politics, public policy analysis, conflict, security, strategy, and international relations. You will have the opportunity to gain a broad overview of the subject through a wide range of specialist core and optional modules, which cover topical issues, such as:
