The BSc (Hons) Midwifery at the University of Plymouth equips you with the skills, knowledge, and professional insight needed to become a registered midwife. You will learn how to deliver safe, effective, respectful, and compassionate midwifery care throughout the entire maternity journey, from pregnancy through labour to the postnatal period.

This hands-on programme ensures you spend 50% of your time on clinical placements, working under the supervision of Registered Midwives across NHS Trust hospital and community settings in the South West of England. Placement locations include Barnstaple, Exeter, Plymouth, Taunton, Torbay, Truro, and Yeovil, giving you exposure to diverse maternity care environments.

Upon successful completion, you are eligible to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Registered Midwife. The programme is designed to develop autonomous practitioners who are fit for the future and capable of providing evidence-based, woman-centred care within multi-professional teams.
