Aerospace Engineering (with Work Experience) BEng

Year 1 develops core engineering foundations through modules in aerospace systems, aerodynamics, structures and design. You’ll study lift, drag and structural behaviour while building skills in mathematics, CAD, programming, electronics and manufacturing, alongside sustainable design and problem-solving techniques.

Year 2 focuses on applied aerospace engineering. You’ll design and manufacture a UAV using systems engineering principles, while studying space systems, aerodynamics, structures and thermo-fluids. These modules strengthen your understanding of fluid mechanics, propulsion basics and structural interactions, with optional study in CAD, simulation and advanced mathematics.

Year 3 advances your technical expertise. You’ll study composite materials and structural analysis using tools like ANSYS, alongside flight dynamics, control systems and aerospace propulsion. Computational Fluid Dynamics develops simulation skills, while a major engineering project integrates design, analysis, testing and sustainability, preparing you for professional aerospace careers.

This course offers a placement option, allowing you to gain valuable industry experience alongside your studies. You can spend up to 12 months working in a professional setting, developing practical skills, building confidence and enhancing your career prospects.
