Aerospace Engineering with Pilot Studies (with Work Experience) BEng

Year 1 develops core engineering foundations through modules in aerospace systems, aerodynamics, structures and design. You’ll study lift and drag while building skills in mathematics, CAD, programming, electronics and manufacturing, alongside sustainable design and problem-solving techniques.

Year 2 focuses on applied aerospace engineering. You’ll design and manufacture a UAV using systems engineering principles, while studying space systems, aerodynamics and thermo-fluids. The Pilot Operations PPL module introduces aviation theory, navigation, flight planning and weather forecasting, with options to further develop CAD, simulation and mathematical skills.

Year 3 advances your technical expertise. You’ll study composite materials and structural analysis using tools like ANSYS, alongside flight dynamics, control systems and aerospace propulsion. Computational Fluid Dynamics enhances simulation capabilities, while a major project integrates design, analysis, testing and sustainability, preparing you for professional aerospace careers.

This course offers a placement option, allowing you to gain valuable industry experience alongside your studies. You can spend up to 12 months working in a professional setting, developing practical skills, building confidence and enhancing your career prospects.
