Business Economics - BA (Hons)

The programme is a collaboration between the Department of Economics and Essex Business School, offering a broad overview of economics that is relevant to business and introducing students to a wide range of skills within economics, management and organisations, and finance.

Students explore a wide range of topics across both departments, combining economic theory with real-world business application. The Department of Economics is ranked 4th in the UK for research power in economics and econometrics, according to the Times Higher Education research power measure from the Research Excellence Framework 2021. Teaching is inspired and informed by this pioneering research, ensuring graduates leave with a strong grounding in economics.

Many employers want economists with critical thinking skills and business knowledge, who can tackle large data sets, understand the impact of economics on business, and find solutions to real-world problems. Graduates are in demand from a wide range of employers across financial analysis, management, accountancy, and marketing, and have gone on to work for a wide range of high-profile companies.
