Veterinary Science

The revised curriculum integrates five vertical themes including scientific foundations, clinical skills, and professional reasoning to ensure comprehensive veterinary training. For the first three years, students are based at the Clifton campus while learning anatomy, physiology, and species handling. This foundational phase also incorporates essential vacation placements on farms and in practices to meet the rigorous standards required by the RCVS.

As students progress through years two and three, they examine the body's response to disease and begin diagnosing common conditions across multiple species. Practical instruction shifts toward advanced surgical skills, clinical examinations, and professional communication techniques to prepare for real-world scenarios. This integrated approach ensures that academic learning is constantly reinforced by hands-on experience with both common and exotic animal species.

The final two years are taught mainly at the Langford clinical campus, focusing on increasingly complex cases and advanced diagnostic management. Year five features intensive supervised core rotations in diverse workplace settings, including essential shifts outside normal working hours. By graduation, students have developed a sophisticated portfolio of clinical expertise and professional resilience, ready to excel in the global veterinary medical field.
