Program Overview: Business (Human Resource Management) Co-Op Diploma

Saskatchewan Polytechnic's Business Diploma with a Human Resources specialty prepares you for a rewarding career that combines working with people and working in a business environment. You will gain in-depth training in the application of business management practices to employment situations, employee engagement, compensation and benefits, labour and employee relations, organizational effectiveness, recruitment and selection, training and development, and workplace wellness.

The first year provides a well-rounded foundation in core business concepts including accounting, computers, economics, human resources, organizational behaviour, and marketing. In the second year, you specialize in human resources, developing the practical skills employers seek through class assignments, role-playing, demonstrations, and simulations that translate theory into real-life competencies.

The optional Co-operative Education component allows you to spend a year completing three consecutive four-month paid work terms between your third and fourth semesters. Co-op placements let you develop on-the-job skills, introduce yourself to potential employers, and test-drive different types of HR roles while earning an income.
