Established on 17 June 1988, Ajman University was the first private university in the Gulf Cooperation Council and the first university in the UAE to admit expatriate students of both genders. Originally known as Ajman University College of Science and Technology, it was later renamed Ajman University of Science and Technology before adopting its current name in 2018.
Today, Ajman University is a comprehensive, non-profit institution offering 46 accredited programs across 9 specialized colleges, including undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degrees. The university is accredited by the UAE Commission for Academic Accreditation and holds prestigious international accreditations from WSCUC (USA) and QAA (UK), making it the first private non-profit university in the Arab region to achieve WSCUC accreditation.
With a global network of over 45,000 alumni across 102 countries and students from more than 70 nationalities, Ajman University has built a strong reputation for academic excellence, social inclusion, and global impact. In 2023, an Emiri Decree officially converted the university from a for-profit entity into a non-profit institution owned by the Government of Ajman.
