Intercalated Global Public Health

The intercalated Global Public Health BSc is a one‑year Bachelor of Science that builds on the undergraduate medical, dental or veterinary training of Queen Mary students, enabling them to earn an additional degree before finishing their professional program. In semester one four compulsory modules—Epidemiology and Statistics, Health Inequalities and Social Determinants of Health, Health Systems, Policy, and Practice, and Research Methods—are completed, and in semester two students submit an 8,000‑word dissertation and select two electives from a list that includes Anthropology and Global Health, Gender, Sexuality and Health, Global Health, Governance and Law, Globalisation and Contemporary Medical Ethics, Health Systems Theory, Policy and Political Economy, Planetary Health and International Health Policy, Public Health Nutrition, and A Life‑course Approach to Sexual and Reproductive Health. Teaching occurs in small‑group seminars with MSc peers, and assessment includes an exam in Epidemiology and Statistics plus written assignments, presentations, and the dissertation. The programme is based at the Whitechapel campus, utilizing the university’s libraries, lecture theatres and close hospital links, and entry requires completion of two to four years of the MBBS, BDS or BVetMed curriculum with satisfactory academic standing, with selection determined by academic results and interview performance.
