Intercalated Experimental Pathology
Mile End Campus (Main), United Kingdom
The intercalated BSc in Experimental Pathology is a one‑year programme designed for medical, dental, or veterinary students to acquire advanced knowledge of major diseases and cutting‑edge research. It delivers core modules such as Cancer Biology, Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine, Molecular Basis of Personalised Medicine, and Perspectives on Brain Disorders, and requires a six‑month independent research project supervised by experts. Teaching consists of weekly lectures and extensive independent study, with assessment through exams, coursework, and a research report. The programme is based in the Blizard Institute, which provides access to modern laboratories, a lecture theatre, and the Queen Mary library, supporting the development of research planning, hypothesis formation, and data analysis skills. Graduates are prepared for academic medicine, clinical research, and teaching pathways, benefiting from strong links with NHS trusts and research institutions.
