Program Overview: Linguistics and Psychology BA (Hons)

On this Linguistics and Psychology joint honours degree at Bangor University, you will explore human behaviour from infancy to old age while investigating the biological, social, and individual factors that shape psychology and language use. The program combines two complementary disciplines, offering you a unique lens through which to understand human cognition, communication, and behaviour.

The linguistics component covers the science behind language, including phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, and language evolution. The psychology component provides a scientific study of how people behave, feel, think, and learn, examining how environmental factors influence thoughts and feelings, how children's minds develop, and key research methods in the field. Teaching staff are active researchers with specialisms in areas such as bilingualism, child language acquisition, and language disorders, ensuring you learn from cutting-edge research throughout your studies.
