Curriculum and Modules
The MLitt programme combines structured research methods training with independent research modules. Research training classes typically take place once or twice a week in the first semester, while you are also expected to participate in the broader research activities of Media, Culture, Heritage and the School of Arts and Cultures.
This taught module provides structured training in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies applicable to museum, gallery and heritage studies, preparing you for independent research.
Building on foundational methods training, this module develops your ability to design and execute research projects, including data collection, analysis and ethical considerations in heritage contexts.
A self-directed research module allowing you to explore smaller research topics or begin in-depth investigation of a single theme within museum, gallery or heritage studies.
The major research-based dissertation is carried out with the support of an academic supervisor, enabling you to make an original contribution to knowledge in your chosen area of heritage studies.
