Department Goal
The occupational therapy department is a health discipline that aims to help individuals gain independence in their daily activities and improve their quality of life. The goals of the occupational therapy department are:
Individual Independence: Ensuring that individuals gain independence in daily living activities. These activities include personal care, housework, work, school and leisure activities.
Improving the Quality of Life: Increasing the overall quality of life of individuals by improving physical, mental and emotional health.
Reducing Barriers: Ensuring individuals' participation in social and business life by reducing their physical, cognitive and emotional barriers.
Rehabilitation: Supporting the rehabilitation processes of individuals who have lost function due to illness, injury or congenital conditions.
Education and Consulting: Providing education and consulting services to individuals, their families and the community. This may include topics such as the use of appropriate adaptive equipment, ergonomic solutions and home adjustments.
Increasing Social Participation: Providing individuals with the necessary skills to increase their participation in society and prevent social isolation.
Ergonomic Solutions: Providing solutions to make work environments more ergonomic and prevent work accidents.
Self-Sufficiency: Improving individuals' self-sufficiency by increasing their self-confidence.
Multidisciplinary Work: Working in collaboration with other healthcare professionals to provide a comprehensive care and treatment process.
Research and Development: To contribute to scientific knowledge by conducting research in the field of occupational therapy and to develop new treatment methods.
In line with these goals, occupational therapists provide the necessary interventions and support for individuals to reach maximum functional capacity and continue their daily lives in the best possible way.
Career Opportunities
1- Clinical Occupational Therapist: They can work in hospitals, clinics or health centers to provide rehabilitation services to individuals. These services generally aim to support patients in returning to their daily living activities and increase their independence.
2- Community Health Occupational Therapist: They can take part in projects in community centers, health institutions or government institutions to increase general health awareness and improve the quality of life of the community. These projects can usually include topics such as elderly care, integration of disabled individuals and prevention of work accidents.
3- Pediatric Occupational Therapist: They can work in hospitals or clinics and provide services on motor skill development, manual skills, play therapy and daily living activities in children. They can provide early intervention to support the development of premature babies in neonatal intensive care units.
