M.Sc. Finance (German/English)
Frankfurt Campus, Germany
Overview
The M.Sc. Finance (German/English) program at ISM is a highly practical and internationally focused Master’s degree designed to equip students with the advanced knowledge and analytical skills required to thrive in today’s fast-paced and globally interconnected financial world. This full-time, four-semester program combines a strong foundation in business administration with specialized financial training, making it an ideal choice for those aspiring to take on leadership roles in banking, investment, corporate finance, or financial consulting.
During the first two semesters, which take place at one of ISM’s modern campuses in Germany, students deepen their understanding of core financial disciplines. The curriculum covers areas such as international finance, financial market theory, risk management, capital investment and financing decisions, and corporate governance. Students also engage in courses designed to refine their quantitative and strategic thinking, supported by modern tools for data analysis, forecasting, and financial modeling. In addition to this, students can choose a personal specialization in either accounting or controlling, depending on their career goals and interests.
The program not only emphasizes theoretical rigor but also integrates practical business relevance throughout. Students participate in real-world consulting projects, collaborate with corporate partners, and are encouraged to apply their academic knowledge to complex business challenges. Courses are taught by experienced professors and industry professionals, ensuring that students benefit from a balanced perspective of academic depth and hands-on experience.
ISM places a strong emphasis on the development of intercultural competencies and soft skills, which are essential for navigating international financial environments. Therefore, part of the program is taught in English, and students are also offered opportunities to enhance their foreign language skills, public speaking abilities, and leadership qualities through tailored workshops and training modules.
In the third semester, students have the opportunity to study abroad at one of ISM’s prestigious partner universities, gaining valuable international exposure and insights into diverse financial systems, regulatory environments, and business cultures. The experience abroad is fully supported by ISM’s International Office, which assists students in selecting the most suitable university and facilitates a smooth transition into the host institution.
The program concludes with a practice-oriented Master’s thesis in the fourth semester, often written in cooperation with a company. This allows students to apply the knowledge and research methods they have acquired to address a real business issue, thereby strengthening their problem-solving abilities and industry readiness.
Upon graduation, students are awarded a total of 120 ECTS credits and are well-positioned to pursue careers in investment banking, corporate finance, financial controlling, asset management, auditing, or consulting, both in Germany and internationally. With its strong blend of academic excellence, practical relevance, and global perspective, the M.Sc. Finance program at ISM prepares students to become agile and competent finance professionals ready to lead in today’s complex financial landscape.
