Curriculum and Modules

The first two years include an equal balance of economics and mathematics modules, starting with a foundation in domestic economics, international economics, pure mathematics, statistics and probability in Year 1. As you progress through Years 2 and 3, you gain a deeper understanding of core concepts in macroeconomics, microeconomics and data analysis, while delving deeper into mathematical applications including data science, statistics and probability theory.

Principles of Economics

Provides a sound foundation for modules in micro- and macroeconomics, covering methodology of economics, supply and demand, consumer spending choices, competition and growth theories.

Linear Algebra

20 credits

Presents mathematical ideas and techniques in linear algebra, developing geometric intuition and familiarity with vector methods needed for more challenging material later in the course.

Probability and Statistics

20 credits

Introduces frequentist and Bayesian approaches to statistics and mathematical ideas on probability, laying the foundations for all subsequent study of statistics using real problems.

Analysis and Calculus

Covers methods of solving ordinary and partial differential equations, with an introduction to Taylor series, Fourier series and Fourier transforms.

Macroeconomics
