Midwifery BSc
Anglia Ruskin University - ARU Campus, United Kingdom
The BSc (Hons) Midwifery program at ARU is a full‑time, three‑year course that integrates academic instruction with supervised clinical placements in a variety of maternity settings across Cambridge, Chelmsford, Peterborough and partner NHS trusts. Instruction covers foundations of midwifery practice, midwifery life sciences, infant nutrition, public health for diverse populations, and universal midwifery skills, advancing through modules on medical complexities, obstetric and neonatal emergencies, emergency midwifery care, professional development and a major project on maternity service improvement. Students divide their time equally between classroom study and clinical practice, completing three primary placements per academic year that may include community, birthing unit, delivery suite, postnatal ward and neonatal unit experiences, as well as short rotations in gynaecological surgery, neonatal care and non‑midwifery services. Practical training occurs in dedicated simulation suites equipped with high‑fidelity birthing mannequins, resuscitation apparatus and palpation models, allowing safe skill acquisition before patient contact.
