Solicitors Training Course GDip

The programme is divided into two distinct stages, SQE 1 Prep and SQE 2 Prep, each mapped to the respective examinations required for solicitor qualification in England and Wales. SQE 1 Prep concentrates on functional legal knowledge, covering subjects such as business law, contract, tort, property law, wills, criminal law and related practice areas, while SQE 2 Prep focuses on practical legal skills including client interviewing, advocacy, case analysis, legal research, writing and drafting. Instruction is delivered through face‑to‑face group sessions, workshops and small tutorial groups, with full‑time study spanning one academic year and part‑time study extending across two years, each component requiring approximately thirty hours of independent study per week in addition to scheduled tuition. Learners benefit from access to mock courtrooms, a modern law‑school building, comprehensive digital resources and personalized academic tutoring, all housed within the Bristol Law School at Frenchay Campus. Assessment mirrors the external SQE format, with SQE 1 candidates completing four timed multiple‑choice papers and SQE 2 candidates undertaking role‑play and computer‑based skills assessments over consecutive half‑days, each accompanied by formative feedback. The curriculum is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and competencies needed to pass the SQE assessments and progress toward a career as a practising solicitor.
