Biomedicine
Old Town Campus, Germany
Overview
Biomedicine is a research-oriented field of study. After acquiring scientific fundamentals and knowledge of biochemistry, physiology, and human anatomy, students are introduced to research practice at an early stage. The goal of the program is to understand the cellular and molecular mechanisms of bodily functions and disease processes in order to improve or develop new diagnostic methods and therapies. To this end, students are specifically introduced to the questions, content, and techniques of biomedical research and to independent laboratory work. The focus is on the research areas of cardiovascular, cancer, inflammation, infection and immunity research, and tissue engineering, which are particularly well represented in Würzburg.
