History with Foundation Year BA (Hons)

A dedicated group of historians possesses expertise in various cultures and traditions covering a 3,500-year timeline. Research focuses on addressing critical questions from classical to modern eras within Britain, the British Isles, Europe, the Americas, and Asia. Specialized areas of inquiry include topics such as Ancient Greek social customs, Norman Sicily, the representation of the Middle Ages in digital media, Imperial Japan, and the history of post-war youth.

An initial foundation year serves as an effective method for enhancing academic competencies, building confidence, and expanding general subject knowledge, thereby bridging the gap between secondary education and undergraduate study. This program involves a preliminary year of study, designated as Year 0, which precedes the standard three-year degree sequence. Such a pathway is particularly suitable for individuals re-entering academia after a hiatus, those who do not meet specific entry requirements, or those requiring additional support during the transition to university life.
