Welsh Language, Literature & Welsh History
Program Overview: Welsh and Welsh History BA (Hons)
The Welsh and Welsh History BA (Hons) at Bangor University allows you to study two areas that have defined notions of Wales and Welshness over the past hundred years. In the Welsh component, you will explore literature and language extending from the early northern-British poetry of Aneirin to the authors of post-industrial Wales.
The Welsh History strand examines the evolution of Wales, its politics, society, industry and religion through the centuries, and its relationship with broader historical forces. This interdisciplinary combination provides a rich understanding of Welsh identity, culture and heritage within wider British and European contexts.
You will study in Gwynedd, an area steeped in history including UNESCO World Heritage Sites, where Welsh remains the living language of the majority. Placement Year and International Experience Year options are also available, giving you the chance to broaden your horizons through work or study abroad.
