Law PhD

In this programme, students are carefully supervised by individual specialists in their chosen area of study and supported to generate a research question and produce a comprehensive thesis. For the MPhil, a thesis of up to 60,000 words is required, while the PhD threshold is set at 80,000 words. These Research Degrees achieve a balance between individual study, academic supervision, and active participation in a communal, scholarly learning environment.

As research students, participants become a vital part of the research culture, with full encouragement to engage in the life of the Law School. The curriculum includes a mandatory research methods and theory course to sharpen analytical skills. Furthermore, researchers meet with their supervisors at least once a month throughout the degree to ensure consistent progress and high academic standards.
