Program Overview: Economics and International Financial Economics MSc
The MSc in Economics and International Financial Economics at the University of Warwick is designed to link economic theory and empirical economics with the practice of international finance. Before term begins, you will be enrolled on a pre-sessional Mathematics and Statistics programme to equip you with the methodological skills needed to succeed.

An 8,000-word dissertation gives you the opportunity to explore your own research interests across international finance and economics.

Curriculum and Modules
The MSc Economics and International Financial Economics follows a structured format of four compulsory core modules, three optional modules, and an individually supervised research dissertation. Core modules are offered in two variants: an applied version (A) and a more theoretically oriented, technical version (B), allowing you to choose the level of rigour that matches your background and career plans.
Microeconomics (A or B)
30 CATSDevelops your understanding of advanced microeconomic analysis. Version A covers key principles and important applications, while Version B is more technically oriented and suited for students considering PhD study.
Macroeconomics (A or B)
30 CATSProvides advanced training in macroeconomic theory and its applications. Students choose between the applied variant (A) and the more rigorous theoretical variant (B) based on their quantitative background and career aspirations.
Quantitative Methods: Econometrics (A or B)
30 CATSEconometrics A covers fundamental econometrics research skills, while Econometrics B supplements these with more advanced topics. Both variants include the Introductory Mathematics and Statistics pre-sessional component.
Dissertation
