University of Salerno Campus, Italy
The curriculum in Diplomatic Studies and Strategies for Global Security provides basic knowledge and skills required in the field of cybersecurity: from mathematical techniques for systems modeling to architectural principles and software applications design techniques, from cryptographic primitives used to guarantee system security to the skills necessary to understand and implement risk prevention and risk management techniques in the field of organizational and economic security. The focus on this problems is emphasized by the other subjects taught within the field of Political Science, in line with what is being consolidated at an international level as an approach to design training programs specifically dedicated to cybersecurity. Due to these distinctive features, the degree course, (unique in Italy) has been recognized and accredited by the Cybersecurity Higher Database of ENISA (European Network and Information Security Agency). On the other hand, the curriculum in Geopolitics for Mediterranean Security provides basic knowledge and skills required in the field of the soft power dimension of security, with particular regard to the geopolitical area of the Mediterranean. In particular, the main training objectives that characterize this curricular path contemplate an understanding of the historical, political, economic and sociological reasons for the complexity and the tensions of the geopolitical area including the Mediterranean countries, with a focus on both the regulations - international treaties, national and European laws - of the migration process and on the policies aimed at resource management and conflict resolution strategies. This curriculum is enriched by subjects focused on the understanding of the institutions and cultures of China and the Arab countries. It also provides thematic linguistic insights and the transmission of basic statistical skills that will offer students specific lexicons, methodologies and intervention tools to approach with a critical mind some of the main global challenges that this geopolitical area poses to the West and, in particular, to our country.
