Ancient Philology, Literatures and History

The Master's degree is designed for students who want advanced training in the academic field of Altertumswissenschaft, or ancient studies. It provides a comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach to the ancient world by combining several fields of study: 

• Philology: Focuses on the critical study and interpretation of Greek and Latin texts, along with relevant methodologies such as paleography and papyrology.
• Literature: Explores classical texts in their original languages, tracing the tradition of Greek and Latin literature through late antiquity, the Middle Ages, and the Humanistic age.
• History: Provides historical context for understanding ancient languages, texts, and cultures.
