The program introduces contemporary knowledge and techniques from natural and social sciences to manage forested ecosystems effectively. Students gain a broad background in foundational and integrative forestry management topics, challenging conventional approaches. Experiential learning occurs at research forests like Aleza Lake and John Prince, offering hands-on opportunities. The degree is accredited by the Canadian Forestry Accreditation Board and meets certification requirements for the Association of BC Forest Professionals. The Co-Op option includes multiple work terms, extending the program duration and providing industry experience. It supports research careers or advanced studies such as master's or PhD programs. The curriculum provides linkages to northern B.C.’s natural resources, industry, and communities, fostering innovative management practices. Graduates can pursue roles such as Silviculturist, Woodlands manager, or Registered Professional Forester. Gain the education you need to become a Registered Professional Forester while developing a comprehensive knowledge of the science, philosophy, and practice of managing forested ecosystems. The Forestry Ecology and Management degree introduces you to contemporary knowledge and techniques drawn from a variety of disciplines in the natural and social sciences.

Forestry education and research at UNBC involves experiential learning at two research forests—the 10,000-hectare Aleza Lake Research Forest near Prince George and the 13,000-hectare John Prince Research Forest near Fort St. James.
