Gender Studies MA

Gender Studies MA provides a strong foundation in feminist theory, research methods, and critical approaches to understanding gender in society. Core modules explore feminist research practices, including ethical and epistemological issues, alongside contemporary theories that examine how gender operates across different areas of social life. You will engage with diverse and sometimes contrasting perspectives, developing the ability to critically analyse gender relations and inequality.

Alongside core study, you can tailor the degree through optional modules on topics such as gender and popular culture, media inequality, racism, decoloniality, migration, religion, and sexuality. These options allow you to specialise in areas that match your academic interests and career goals.

Teaching combines student-led workshops, discussions, group work, and independent study, helping you build strong analytical and research skills. Assessment includes essays, presentations, and research proposals, with ongoing academic support and feedback.
