This course prepares you to become a registered diagnostic radiographer, combining academic study with clinical placements to develop strong patient care and technical imaging skills. You learn human anatomy, disease recognition, and the science behind imaging technologies such as X-ray, CT, MRI and ultrasound, alongside research skills and teamwork in healthcare settings.

In Year 1, you are introduced to core radiography concepts, anatomy, imaging techniques, and patient care, supported by early clinical experience. Year 2 builds on this with advanced imaging modalities, including CT, MRI and ultrasound, while developing research methods and evidence-based practice. In Year 3, you focus on specialist and complex imaging, gain greater independence, and complete a research project, while also choosing optional modules such as paediatric or forensic imaging.

Around half of the course is spent in clinical placements, allowing you to apply skills in real hospital environments. Teaching includes lectures, practical sessions and simulations, while assessment involves exams, coursework, presentations and clinical evaluations, ensuring you graduate ready for professional practice.
