Initial registration takes place within the Biomedical Science degree framework, where a formal application for a hospital placement, specifically involving an NHS laboratory training position, becomes available during the first year of study. Upon acceptance, progression is made onto the BSc Applied Biomedical Science pathway to complete the comprehensive curriculum. Beyond establishing a firm grounding in biomedical science, the acquisition of a diverse range of transferable skills, extending from advanced problem-solving capabilities to detailed case study analysis, is prioritized. The course holds accreditation from the Institute of Biomedical Science, ensuring that upon the successful completion of the NHS training placement, graduates are issued the IBMS certificate of competence, which serves as a necessary credential for applying for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
