Program Overview: Landscape Architecture MSc at Edinburgh

The MSc Architecture, Landscape and Environment at the University of Edinburgh offers a unique interdisciplinary opportunity to explore the interconnected nature of architectural and landscape history, theory, and environmental concerns. Delivered through Edinburgh College of Art within the Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture (ESALA), this one-year programme is taught over three semesters by an experienced group of research-led senior staff.

This programme is not design-based but follows a generalist structure that delivers individual student experiences through a flexible, student-led framework. You will shape your own learning experience by choosing from a wide range of optional courses addressing architectural, landscape, and environmental themes, while compulsory courses focus on sites and methods of creative research.

Edinburgh offers an inspiring environment as one of Europe's cultural capitals, with Scotland's dramatic landscapes serving as living laboratories for fieldwork and site-based learning. You will spend your time between dedicated seminar spaces in Minto House, the ECA Lauriston Campus, and the landscapes that form the focus of your coursework and research projects.
