The B.A. in Transcultural Humanities at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf is an interdisciplinary program taught by scholars from 11 different humanities fields. It challenges students to think critically about their positions and perspectives in a constantly changing, ever-enlarging global society, drawing on cultural foundations including languages, art forms, and media old and new.

Theories of Transculturality

Foundational module exploring key theories and concepts of transcultural studies, examining processes of cultural entanglement across historical and contemporary contexts.

Phenomena of Transcultural Exchange

10 ECTS

Study of transcultural phenomena including migration, cultural transfer, hybridization, and globalization through interdisciplinary case studies and analytical frameworks.

Propaedeutics and Research Methods

10 ECTS

Introduction to academic research methodologies in the humanities, including empirical data collection, textual analysis, and cross-disciplinary approaches to cultural inquiry.

Foreign Language Modules

20 ECTS

Structured language acquisition in at least two foreign languages, building communicative and analytical competence for transcultural research and professional contexts.

Disciplinary Methodologies
