Program Overview: LLM International Energy Law and Policy

The LLM in International Energy Law and Policy at the University of Dundee equips you with specialised knowledge of global energy markets, regulations, and policies essential in today's energy-dependent world. Delivered by the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP), a global voice in energy law since 1977, this program provides insights into sustainable energy practices, climate change mitigation, and the legal frameworks governing energy production and distribution.

You will study how government decisions on energy provision are structured and enforced, and how rules and agreements connect to deliver energy to the consumer. The course focuses on electricity and gas regulation, with options to study hydrocarbon production, energy transition, dispute resolution, and the influence of environmental standards across different jurisdictions.

Notably, you do not need to be a lawyer to take this course, making it accessible to professionals from diverse backgrounds including economics, finance, geology, and engineering. With over 6,000 postgraduate alumni from more than 80 countries, CEPMLP prepares graduates for high-profile careers across the public and private sectors worldwide.
