Design for Business MSc Program Overview

The MSc Design for Business at the University of Dundee is a one-year postgraduate programme that equips you with the skills to solve business challenges through design thinking and creative innovation. Through a mixture of theory and practice, you will learn to use design thinking to innovate, transform businesses, and realise your leadership potential.

Using an interdisciplinary approach, the course enables you to approach design strategically and enhance your knowledge of design management, service design, enterprise, and entrepreneurship. You will gain new perspectives on products and services, processes, new ways of working, managing innovation, and engaging stakeholders effectively.

You will study in Dundee, a UNESCO City of Design and home to V&A Dundee, the only design museum in Scotland and the first V&A outside of London. The programme has been developed in parallel with the professional Design for Business programme at V&A Dundee, giving you access to interactive workshops and briefs with this renowned institution.

Curriculum & Modules

The MSc Design for Business curriculum blends design thinking methodology with strategic business skills across core and elective modules. Design Thinking: Insights to Innovation

Accelerate your learning around design thinking, co-designing, and innovation. This module builds a shared understanding and common platform for your journey through the programme.

Service Design and Prototyping

Develop a deep understanding of service design principles and prototyping frameworks to drive ingenuity and innovation in academic, commercial, and business practices.

Design Management and Brand Strategy
