Conservation and restoration of cultural heritage
University of Calabria Campus, Italy
The course has been designed to strike a balance between theoretical and scientific aspects and technical and practical aspects to enable students to acquire a solid foundation in all interventions related to movable and immovable cultural heritage. Lectures and laboratory activities, aimed at acquiring basic knowledge in archaeology, history, art history, architectural history, physics, chemistry, biology, and geology, will be complemented by extensive hands-on learning. These activities, in addition to being developed in the University's dedicated Stone Restoration laboratory, may also be implemented at organizations and institutions responsible for the preservation and enhancement of cultural heritage (superintendency laboratories and offices, museums, archaeological and/or architectural sites).
