Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (4 Years)

The MEng Mechanical and Electrical Engineering program at the University of Bristol is designed to meet the growing demand for engineers proficient in both mechanical and electrical disciplines. The curriculum emphasizes electro-mechanical energy conversion, integrating units from both fields across themes such as design and integration of electro-mechanical systems, energy conversion, embedded systems, power electronics, and energy management. The first two years establish foundational knowledge in mathematics, thermal management, dynamics, computing, and electrical technologies, reinforced through laboratory work and case studies. In the third year, students undertake a research project, applying their skills to topics like actuation systems, power systems, or propulsion technologies. The final year involves collaborative teamwork, often with industrial partners, to solve real-world engineering problems, alongside advanced module options. Graduates are equipped to innovate in areas such as renewable energy microgrids, robotics, electric vehicles, and energy storage systems. The program is pending accreditation by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and spans four years of full-time study.
