Curriculum and Modules
The Robotics Engineering MEng curriculum builds progressively from foundational engineering principles to advanced robotics and autonomous systems. The first two years are shared with the BEng pathway, allowing flexibility to switch between the two programs until the end of Year 2. Years 3 and 4 focus on advanced taught units and an in-depth individual research project.
Fundamentals of Electrical and Electronic Engineering
CoreCovers essential principles of circuit analysis, electronic components, and electrical systems that form the foundation for all subsequent robotics modules.
Mechanical Engineering Principles for Robotics
CoreIntroduces mechanical design, dynamics, and materials science as applied to robotic systems, covering kinematics, actuators, and structural analysis.
Programming and Computer Systems
CoreDevelops programming skills and understanding of computer architecture essential for controlling robotic systems and processing sensor data.
Control Systems and Automation
CoreExplores feedback control theory, system modelling, and automation techniques used in the design and operation of autonomous robotic systems.
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
CoreCovers AI algorithms, machine learning techniques, and their application to robotics including computer vision, path planning, and decision-making systems.
MEng Individual Research Project
CoreA substantial individual project in Year 4 where you undertake original research or advanced design work in a robotics-related topic, supervised by a member of academic staff.
