The Master of Christian Studies in Marriage & Family Therapy (MCS-MFT) at Trinity Western University provides comprehensive training and qualifications to work with individuals, couples, families, and groups. This program is the only Marriage and Family Therapy program in British Columbia and one of very few in Canada, offering a distinctive systemic perspective on clinical practice.
Students receive rigorous academic and clinical training that requires over 500 hours of direct client contact and clinical supervision, culminating in 640 total hours of supervised practice. The program is accredited by the Canadian Association for Couple and Family Therapy (CACFT), ensuring graduates meet national professional standards.
Graduates are qualified to register as Registered Clinical Counsellors with BCACC, as Canadian Certified Counsellors with CCPA, and to pursue registration as Registered Marriage and Family Therapists with CACFT or AAMFT. The program is designed for both full-time and part-time study, with flexible delivery options after two initial semesters of in-person coursework.

The MCS-MFT program admits one cohort each year in the Fall semester (September). - Psychology PrerequisitesA minimum of 18 semester hours of undergraduate psychology credits, with specific upper-level courses requiring a minimum grade of A- (3.7)
- Counselling Skills CourseSuccessful completion of a foundational counselling skills course; conditional acceptance may be granted pending completion of CLG 525 at TWU
- Prerequisite ValidityAll prerequisite courses must have been completed within 10 years prior to application
