Program Overview: M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy
The Manhattan University Marriage and Family Therapy Master's Program prepares future therapists to work with and provide treatment for familial relationships, marital and couple relationships, parent-child relationships, pre-marital dynamics, and other personal relationships. There is a strong focus on treating clients within the context of their relationships and environments rather than just as individuals.
This 60-credit program is registered with the New York State Office of Professions and fulfills the educational requirements for an independent Marriage and Family Therapy license in New York State. Students develop skills in evaluation and treatment of mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders within the context of marital, relational, and family systems.
Located in the Riverdale section of the Bronx, Manhattan University provides students with access to professional clinical opportunities at top mental health hospitals, clinics, and agencies throughout New York City and Westchester County. The program is delivered in a blended format, offering up to half of the courses in an online synchronous format with the remainder held in person.

Curriculum and Modules
The M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy consists of 60 credits, comprising 54 credits of core courses and 6 credits of elective courses. Classes are held once a week, Monday through Thursday starting at 4:30 p.m., with courses offered in fall, spring, and two summer sessions.
